77: To Nana, with love!

Nana and me in 2016

In 2020 I spent a lot of time at home with my family. The UAE went into lockdown, and we had to study online. In the beginning, I was excited about online learning, but after a while, I was bored. I prefer going to school instead of distance learning because I enjoy learning with the teachers and my friends at school.

In July 2020, Nana, my grandmother, died from Coronavirus. It made my mother very sad. I was sad too. Abu, my grandfather came to visit us in Dubai, and we played together. My grandfather likes to exercise a lot. He wears a fit bit and counts the steps every day. Sometimes, he would do many steps like 20,000, I think, and he would also go to the gym every day.

We went to Goa in December 2020. It is my favourite place in the world. My good and kind friend Darryl lives there. I made some new friends too – Araiya, Mira and Ada. There are many dogs, too. Their names are Rex, Caesar and Rexina. And I love playing with them. My mother got Covid when we were in Goa. And we had to live separately for 17 days. I was not allowed to visit my mom. She stayed in the house next to me, but I could see her, and we would chat across the wall. I missed hugging her the most. I miss getting on an aeroplane, and I hope I can go back to Goa soon.

I love Dubai too. I can go to school and play with my friends. I love swimming, going to the beach, playing in the sand and making things. I know many people in the world were emotional because of the Coronavirus, and I wish them love and happiness.

I love you Nana. I wish I was there with you in your final moments. I miss you so much and I pray for you and everyone who has died every day.

Thank you for reading my story, and have a good day ahead.

Bless your little heart Zoe. This tear jerker story was truly a pleasure to read. Your Grandma will always watch over you because that’s what they do. From heaven too, yes. I’m very proud of you and want you to know that you make us all smile with your kind words. I pray that you always keep Nana close. Stay well and stay blessed Kiddo. Love you.
