FAQ

We don’t believe 2020 can just be defined as the ‘year of the pandemic’. It’s an epic time, made up of different experiences. The purpose of this website is to document and share a million stories of a unique year – for now and for the future.

Your story is special – we can’t tell you why you should share it. But if you look at some of the stories on the website, you’ll probably understand why. You’ll find people sharing stories about loss, so they can feel better. Some share stories because they believe they hold lessons for the future. Others simply want to share gratitude. Businesses put up stories of how they and their employees got through. You’ll see some people share just a photo, others a long narrative. Post your story if you think it could change your life, the lives of others now and 10 years later.

We charge AED 37 for each story that is posted. Why are we charging this? The money goes towards maintaining and managing the website and grow it to a million users. Each story will stay alive on the website guaranteed for a decade. You may notice that one cannot see the number of views, likes or loves for a post. The only way to engage is to leave a comment. This is intentional because we want to create a platform that is ad-free, not focussed on gathering the user’s data to profit from it. More importantly, it is a space for people to share without the adrenaline/ stress of how many likes the post generated, yet know that every experience shared is a chance for one to feel less alone and positively impact another. That’s why your 2020 experience matters.

Anyone and everyone from across the world. When you post your story, it can be searched for and found by your family, friends and anyone else – which is why it’s a bit different from Facebook.

You will receive an email notifying you that your story is published. This may not happen instantly as we will be reviewing the contents of the story to ensure it does not violate the terms and conditions and community guidelines.

At this time, no. But here’s a simple structure you can follow to write a story: – there’s you in 2020 with a goal and some obstacles to overcome. Then there’s some kind of resolution. You could highlight a surprise moment, an unexpected victory, or a lesson learned. That’s it!

You cannot edit your story once it has been published. You can choose to delete it by sending your story number (which will be sent via email when you publish) with a request for deletion to hello@humansof2020.com.

Not at all. We believe each story is special.

We’re working on categorizing the stories. Until then, you could search by words in the stories – it could be an emotion or a name.

No. We do not provide refunds on cancellation or deletion.
