87: The one where time stood still….

Who knew the stories we had read in history books would repeat itself? Who knew life would come to a complete standstill? I still remember the day we received news that schools and universities were going to close for four weeks in UAE for sanitization, we all were so happy in the moment but who knew those 4 weeks would stretch to more than a year ? I missed everything about university, from my friends to even my lectures, it felt as if time had stood still.

After a long period of helplessness and looking at the glass half empty, halfway through the summer I started bringing positivity in my life, I saw opportunities stemming from this situation, like spending quality time on myself and honing skills I thought were too time consuming before. From baking to taking online courses, the list was endless. 2020 taught me to appreciate the little things, the little moments spent with my family and the many Zoom calls with friends.

At the end of the day, I reminded myself that we are all in this together and this is not the end. We were just being asked to hit the “snooze” button and to reflect in 2020. 2021 has been better. I am much more prepared as what to expect and I know we will resume our normal lives very soon with each other’s support.
